New Web Ident Piece

Recently we were given another task to create another ident based on either Salvador Dali or Antonio Gaudi. It had to also had to consist of the words Barcelona 2011 and run for 30 seconds. I decided to base my next ident piece on Gaudi as I felt i had done enough work on Dali as you may see in previous posts.

For ideas on Architecture, my mind instantly turned to the MTV series, 'cribs'. ‘Cribs’ is a programme presented by MTV where the celebrity opens their house to the camera for the public to view. Below are pictures of the logo and also a celebrity (50 Cent) letting the cameras into his house.

It instantly came to mind that my ident should have influence from the cribs logo. I then logged onto Photoshop and also onto the internet to images of blueprints which I could use as a background. I then tried to locate the same MTV cribs font but it had to be paid for which I could not do, the font is called Optima family or Suribusso. I instead used the font impact and then included the same Photoshop technique used to create just the outline. After completing the work in Photoshop, I now had to animate it to make it into the ident.

After completing Photoshop, I then hopped onto Adobe After Effects to animate the ident. I planned to make it begin with just the title of 'Antonio Gaudi' and the construction work and architecture fades its way in second after second as a pattern which would last for around 15 seconds, after doing so, it will fade out. I did this so that if the ident loops, it will loop smoothly. Below is another screen grab of me at work in After Effects.

Now that the animation piece was finished I thought the ident could do with music to suit as complement the animation. I looked up a pianist by the name of Ludivico Einaudi who is world famous. I went through a range of his music till I landed on a track by the name of ‘Nightbook’. The song was about 6 minutes long so I had to edit different parts and trim the song down to 30 seconds. To do so, I downloaded the song and opened it up on an audio editing software called Sony Sound Forge 9. On there I trimmed the song down and added it to the ident and rendered the piece. I will shortly upload the animation so I can put a link for view.
